All The Political Parties Must Work Unitedly In Flood Situation: Tripura CM

All political parties must work unitedly to deal with the post-flood situation in the state. A quick recovery from the situation will be possible only with the joint efforts of all. Chief Minister Prof. 

Dr. Manik Saha, the Chief Minister of Tripura made this call in an all-party meeting held at the State Guest House on Saturday to deal with the dire flood situation in the state due to record heavy rains. 

A moment of silence was observed at the beginning of the meeting, which was presided over by the Chief Minister. 

In the meeting, Chief Minister Dr. Saha explained to the representatives of various political parties the steps taken by the government to deal with the flood situation and sought their valuable suggestions. 

He called for cooperation from all to overcome this situation. At the end of the meeting today, state Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha said that there has been a loss of Rs 15,000 crore in the state. I have proposed to form an all-party committee and raise the demand for financial assistance with the Centre. 

"The opposition leader and CPIM state secretary said that there has been some delay in issuing warnings of natural disasters by the Meteorological Department. In the future, I have given more importance to this issue and advised to take timely precautions. Only then, I think today's all-party meeting will be worthwhile" said the CM.

At the end of the all-party meeting, the chief minister said that since August 19, there has been a record amount of rainfall in the entire state. Bakafa in South District recorded more than 493 mm of rainfall. The situation becomes critical due to floods. All the rivers in Tripura are flowing above the danger level. While talking to Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the flood situation, he assured me of all possible help, including sending helicopters and additional NDRF teams. Our administration is working tirelessly, distributing relief materials and carrying out rescue operations. At present, all the rivers except Gomati River are flowing below the danger level. So far 24 dead, 2 missing and 2 injured. Out of these 24, 18 died in landslides, 5 drowned and 1 died in house collapse" Said the Chief Minnister.
