Amit Shah to Attend Rajbhasha Meet in Agartala

The Department of Official Language under the Ministry of Home Affairs will convene the Joint Regional Official Language Conference — the Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan — in Agartala on February 20, bringing together stakeholders from the eastern, northeastern, and northern regions of the country.

The conference will be held at the International Indoor Exhibition Centre at Hapania, on the outskirts of the Tripura capital. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is slated to attend the high-level gathering, alongside senior officials and distinguished delegates.

The conclave is expected to witness participation from representatives of various Central government departments, public sector undertakings, banking institutions, Town Official Language Implementation Committees (TOLICs), and other bodies tasked with advancing the implementation of the Official Language policy.

An accompanying exhibition will spotlight exemplary practices, innovative methodologies, and noteworthy accomplishments in the domain of Official Language implementation. Participating organisations have been requested to furnish detailed accounts of their distinctive initiatives, which will be showcased at dedicated stalls during the event.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, speaking to the media on the sidelines of a separate programme, confirmed the Union Home Minister’s presence at the Sammelan.

Sources within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) indicated that Shah is also likely to hold consultations with Chief Minister Saha and senior party leaders to deliberate on political strategy and organisational matters during his visit to the state.
