"Anarchy, Suppression Going On in Tripura" Said Opposition on Gondacherra Issue

On the night of last July 12, miscreants unleashed terror on a section of people in Gandacherra under Dhalai District of Tripra.

Many  houses and shops have been damaged. Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman, Tripura Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha, Youth  Congress President Neel Kamal Saha who took permission from the District Magistrate to stand by the proletariat victims were stopped by the police on Monday.

On the other hand, a delegation including Leader of the Opposition in Tripura Lagislative Assembly Jitendra Chowdhury and Sudhan Das wanted to go to Gandacherra at the same time.

They left for Gandacherra on Monday morning. But a large police force stopped them on the road after Amarpur.

According to the report the Congress delegation sought permission from the Dhalai District Magistrate to visit the spot and present situation in Gandacherra . They were given permission on Sunday, party sources said.

But it was noticed that while they were going to Gandacherra on Monday, they were stopped by a group of police led by Dhalai District Additional District Superintendent of Police Manabendra Chowdhury when they reached Amarpur. And police say if they go there, things could get heated.

Then the Congress delegation said that they are going there to see the condition of the people. If necessary, let choose four among them to visit there. But the police didn't gave permission.

MLA Sudip Roy Barman then asked the police officer how Minister Tinku Roy, BJP leader Subal Bhowmik, former MP Rebati Tripura and Tipra Matha supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarman went there even after Section 163 was in force. Then the police officials could not answer Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman.

Sudip Roy Burman said the media that the Congress delegation wanted to go there as social workers as the police are performing security duties. Why would they be prevented, he asked? He said the police obstruction has made it clear that the situation has not normalized even in the last 11 days. So there is a situation of concealment and suppression. Thus trying to make the situation more heated. He condemned such activities.

On the other hand, Jitendra Chowdhury said that the civil rights are being violated on the streets. It is unfortunate. Later addressing a press conference at party headquarters in Agartala Jitendra Choudhury said:

People across the state are witnessing daily that anti-people activities in the state, trampling of human rights and complete disregard for civil rights have reached such a level. The people of the state are getting upset.

Misrule has been going on since July 12 in Gandachara with the help of the government and the administration. There is anarchy under the leadership of the ruling party. And this incident started around Anand Mela. A young man named Parameshwar Reang died. Later on 12th and 13th July terror violence had been organized there. Livelihoods of hundreds of families are affected. The main opposition party in the state, CPIM, has tried to stand by them.

The District Magistrate was asked whether we can go to Gandacherra, the District Magistrate said of course we can go on Monday.

Then we immediately sent a message to everyone starting from the Chief Secretary, District Superintendent of Police, Police Station OC and informed that our delegation will go to Gandachhara on Monday. At nine o'clock in the night, the District Magistrate called again to confirm  which road the opposition leader Jitendra Choudhury would take. Jitendra Chowdhury sent the information of leaving for Gondacherra at 7:30 in the morning. Then the delegation was intercepted while passing through Ambassa . In this regard, the District Magistrate has been asked to know whether anything happened yesterday? He said no. So why is it being blocked? No response was received from the District Magistrate on that matter.

Then he said he will call next time. It shows that he is under pressure. After a while, the District Superintendent of Police called and informed that section 163 is in force, you cannot go there. Then he was told that if the law is not violated, then why not be allowed to go? Then he hung up saying that he would call. Then a large police force was seen in Dangabari area. The police stopped there again. This government and the DG of Police are responsible for this. Because the police of this government and the police of the DG are puppets.

The civil rights of this state are lost, the rights of the people's representatives are also losts. This government is establishing what they will do is the law. Anarchy, brutality, encroachment on fundamental rights and violation of the constitution is going on.

Government knows very well that if the representatives of the opposition parties go there, then the failure of this government will come before the people.
