Arvind Kejriwal Resigned As CM, Delhi. Atishi To Be The New CM

Arvind Kejriwal had reached the Lieutenant Governor's office with his ministers on Tuesday.

He resigned from the post of CM to Lieutenant Governor Vinay Saxena. 

Let us tell you that just a few hours ago of his resignation , Arvind Kejriwal has announced the name of the new CM of Delhi. After Arvind Kejriwal's resignation, Atishi will now take over the reins of Delhi as the new Chief Minister.

Two days after coming out of Tihar, Arvind Kejriwal had announced that he would resign from the post of CM in two days. After which Atishi was elected as the new Chief Minister in the legislature party meeting this morning. 

Atishi's name was unanimously approved in the legislature party meeting. Let us tell you that Atishi's name was proposed by Arvind Kejriwal, on which everyone agreed. 

After the legislature party meeting, Delhi government minister Gopal Rai said that Atishi has been unanimously given the responsibility of the Chief Minister till the next elections of Delhi.

Atishi is soon going to become the third woman Chief Minister of Delhi. Earlier, Sushma Swaraj and Sheila Dixit have been the Chief Ministers of Delhi. Atishi is an MLA from Kalkaji and currently holds 13 ministries. She is considered close to Arvind Kejriwal. 


Atishi started her political journey with the anti-corruption movement. From 2015 to 2018, Atishi has also been an advisor to the then Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia. 

She has also been a member of the PAC, an important committee of the Aam Aadmi Party. In 2019, Atishi contested the Lok Sabha elections but had to face defeat from former cricketer Gautam Gambhir.

Delhi Minister and AAP leader Gopal Rai said that "after coming out of jail, Arvind Kejriwal had announced that he will not take the post of CM until the people of Delhi support him again and make him win. Under the same announcement, he submitted his resignation to the Lieutenant Governor. Along with this, a meeting of the AAP Legislature Party was held in which Atishi  was unanimously elected as the leader of their Legislature Party. We have requested the Lieutenant Governor to ensure the date of oath as soon as possible under which further work can be carried forward in Delhi."
