Asia Cup 2025: India beat Pakistan by 7 Wickets, Stay on Top of Group-A

India registered a commanding 7-wicket win over Pakistan in the sixth match of the Asia Cup at the Dubai International Stadium. Chasing a modest target of 128, the Men in Blue reached 131/3 in the 16th over, thanks to a solid batting effort led by captain Suryakumar Yadav’s unbeaten 47.

Pakistan, who chose to bat after winning the toss, struggled from the start as Indian bowlers maintained relentless pressure. Only Sahibzada Farhan (40) and Shaheen Afridi (33) offered some resistance, while the rest of the lineup crumbled. Pakistan finished on 127/9 in 20 overs.

For India, Kuldeep Yadav shone with 3 wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel chipped in with two each. Hardik Pandya and Varun Chakraborty took one wicket apiece.

In reply, India’s openers Abhishek Sharma (31) and Tilak Verma (31) provided a steady start, before a crucial 56-run stand between Tilak and Suryakumar sealed the game. Pakistan’s only success came through Saim Ayub, who picked all three Indian wickets.

A controversy erupted as Indian players reportedly did not shake hands with their Pakistani counterparts after the toss and even post-match, highlighting lingering tensions between the two sides.

With this win, India tops Group-A and is almost assured of a Super-4 spot, while Pakistan now faces a must-win clash against UAE to keep their hopes alive.
