Assam CM Expressed Deep Concern Over Illegal Infiltration

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed deep concern over illegal infiltration in the country. He also accused the state governments of not taking action against illegal intruders due to vote bank politics.

Assam CM said that demographic change is a matter of life and death for him.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who reached Ranchi, while talking to the media about illegal infiltration, said that 'Infiltrators first enter from Assam and West Bengal and then from there reach Jharkhand, Bihar and Chhattisgarh. Jharkhand High Court had also directed the state government to identify the infiltrators and send them back. It is the responsibility of the state governments to identify the infiltrators and send them back. It is not the responsibility of the central government. I do this work daily in Assam, if you will not fulfill your responsibility and say that the central government sitting in Delhi should do this work, then why are you in power? You should leave the power and then we will do this work.'

Regarding demographic change, the Assam CM said that 'Demographic change is a big issue for me. Today the Muslim population in Assam has increased to 40 percent, whereas in the year 1951 it was only 12 percent. We have lost many districts. This is not a political issue for me. It is a question of life and death for me.'
