The Assam Government has taken several transformative decisions during its latest Cabinet meeting, focusing on governance, rural development, and urban infrastructure. Here are the key highlights:
1. Amendment to Registration Rules
The Cabinet approved the *Assam Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Rules, 2024*, aimed at simplifying registration procedures. The amendments are designed to make the process more citizen-friendly and accessible for all residents.
2. Launch of Swagata Satirtha Mutual Transfer Portal
A new online platform, the *Swagata Satirtha Mutual Transfer Portal*, was launched to facilitate smooth mutual transfers among Grade III and IV employees. This initiative is expected to enhance operational efficiency and boost employee satisfaction within the government workforce.
3. Major Push for Rural Connectivity
The Cabinet sanctioned *104 projects worth Rs 210.8 crore* to bolster connectivity and infrastructure in 12 districts. These projects aim to improve access and elevate the quality of life in rural areas across the state.
4. Urban Drinking Water Projects
To address the pressing need for clean drinking water in urban areas, *Rs 207.92 crore* has been allocated for water supply projects under the Urban Infrastructure Development Fund (UIDF). This funding will benefit towns such as *Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, Tezpur, and North Lakhimpur*, ensuring better access to clean water for residents.
These initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to improving governance, enhancing infrastructure, and ensuring better living standards for the people of Assam.
