"Attack Continue on Opposition Ahead of Panchayat Polls": Tripura Congress Meets DGP

Tripura Congress  submitted a deputation to the Director General of State Police on Friday demanding an immediate step to stop the incidents of political violence ahead of the upcoming Panchayat Elections in the state.

On this day, a delegation led by Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha went to the  police headquarters, in Agartala and placed a deputation to the Director General of the state police. 

Later Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha said that:

Terror continues across the state ahead of the upcoming three-tier panchayat elections. Attacks are being carried out on Congress party workers and supporters in places. The party office of the opposition party is being vandalized. 

Congress leader Gauri Biswas was threatened in Dharmanagar after the panchayat elections has been announced. He filed a case at the police station. Then on Friday his house was attacked. 

Congress party office has been vandalized in Bishalgarh. A Congress worker's house was set on fire in Bishalgarh at the behest of the MLA of the area. Firefighters were not allowed to go to the spot. Congress party candidates are being threatened.

Therefore, a demand has been made to the Director General of State Police to stop these incidents immediately. 

If the police did not take proper action, then the Congress party activists would sit on dharna in front of the office of the State Director General of Police in coming days.
