Australian Announced For First Test Against India

The Australian team has been announced for the first Test against India. Cricket Australia released the 13-member team late on Saturday night.

Nathan McSweeney, Josh English and Scott Boland have been selected in the Australian team for this match starting in Perth from November 22.

McSweeney can open the innings with Usman Khawaja, while Boland has been included as a backup fast bowler.

Josh English's name is a bit surprising. Recently the selectors made him the captain of ODI and T20. In the first Test match, captain Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood will lead the fast bowling attack. Chief selector George Bailey said that the team is balanced and provides an option to Andrew and Pat.

George Bailey, chairman of the selection committee, said-

"Nathan has displayed qualities that will prepare him for Tests. His recent records in domestic cricket are also excellent. His performance for South Australia and Australia A is also in his favour. Similarly, Josh Inglis is in great form in the Sheffield Shield competition. He deserves a place in the Test team. On the other hand, whenever Scott gets a chance in the Test team, he gives a top class performance. He has become an important member of the team."

Team India is going to play a Test series in Australia after 3 years. The first match will be played in Perth from 22 November and the second match will be played in Adelaide from 6 December. Team India has not lost any Test series against Australia since 2014. The team won 2 series during this period under the captaincy of Virat Kohli.
