Awareness, Co-ordination Must To Implement The 3 New Criminal Laws: CM Dr Manik Saha

"Many times, 'Tu tu main main' came in light, this will not be tolerated"

Chief Minister of Tripura Dr Manik Saha also gave a stern warning about the implementation of the three new criminal laws at Pragya Bhavan.

Incidentally, in view of the changing times, three new criminal laws have come into effect from July 1, 2024, bringing radical changes to the country's legal system - the Indian Penal Code, the Indian Civil Protection Code, and the Indian Evidence Act, 2023.

In addition, the amended NDPS Act has come into effect. This new law, by removing the century-and-a-half-old colonial Indian Penal Code, has ushered in a new era of justice and order across the country.

"The Home Department of the state government is playing a leading role in the effective implementation of these laws in the state." Said the CM

On this occasion, the state Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha participated in a workshop organized at Pragya Bhavan in the capital on Sunday.

The state Chief Secretary, the Director General of State Police and other high-ranking officials were present.

Speaking at the workshop, the Chief Minister said, "The three new criminal laws are very beneficial for the common people. Law and order in the state has improved a lot, we are working with the aim of further development."

He said that coordination among the concerned officials is very necessary for the smooth implementation of the new laws. Along with this, the Chief Minister laid special emphasis on maintaining discipline and professionalism in the work process.

Dr. Saha also emphasized on increasing public awareness about the new law.

He said that initiatives should be taken to implement these three new criminal laws in the state not only through words but also through deeds. Keeping the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police at his side, he gave a clear message that effective coordination should be developed among the employees of all levels of the administration.

The Chief Minister also expressed hope that the rule of law in the state will be further strengthened through the proper implementation of these new laws, which are technology-based, timely, and citizen-friendly.

Police administration officials from various districts, representatives of the law department, and other relevant officials participated in this workshop.
