Badminton Player Thulasimathi Murugesan Wins Silver In Paris Paralympic

Indian badminton player Thulasimathi Murugesan has won the silver medal in the Paris Paralympic Games. Thulasimathi Murugesan lost to China's Yang Qixia 17-21, 10-21 in the final of the women's singles class SU5 played on 2 September (Monday). 

Manisha Ramdas won the bronze medal in the same category. Manisha Ramdas defeated Denmark's Rosengren Katherine 21-12, 21-8 in the bronze medal match. The SU5 category includes those players who have disability in their upper limbs.

Top seeded Thulasimati Murugesan from Tamil Nadu defeated compatriot Manisha 23-21, 21-17 in the semi-finals. However, she could not perform well against the Chinese player in the final. 

On the other hand, Manisha won easily against the Danish player in the bronze medal match.

With these two medals, India's medal tally has now gone up to 11. India has so far won two gold, four silver and five bronze medals. 

First of all, Avani Lekhara won the gold medal in the R2 Women's 10m Air Rifle (SH1) event on Friday (30 August). Avani won the gold medal with a Paralympic record. India's Mona Agarwal won the bronze medal in the same event.

Then Preeti Pal won the third medal for India in the Paris Paralympics. She won the bronze medal in the Women's 100 meter race (T35). 

After this, on August 30, shooter Manish Narwal won the fourth medal for India. He won the silver medal in the Men's 10 meter air pistol (SH1). After this, Rubina Francis won the bronze medal in the Women's 10 meter air pistol (SH1). She scored 211.1 points in the final. 

Then on August 1, Preeti Pal won the bronze in the Women's 200 meter race (T35) and Nishad Kumar won the silver medal in the Men's High Jump (T47). 

Now on September 2, Yogesh Kathuniya, Nitesh Kumar, Manisha Ramdas and Thulasimathi Murugesan have managed to win medals.
