Bangladesh on Thursday declared that the 13th National Parliamentary Election will be held on February 12, 2026, marking the first national polls since the ouster of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Naseeruddin announced the schedule in a televised address, asserting that the nation is prepared to prove its ability to hold free, transparent, and democratic elections.
He urged citizens to stay alert against misinformation, noting that fake news and rumour campaigns pose a major threat to the electoral environment. The CEC confirmed that voting for both the general election and the July Charter referendum will be conducted simultaneously on February 12.
According to the official schedule, all 300 parliamentary constituencies will go to polls. Non-resident Bangladeshis will be able to apply online to participate in voting starting tomorrow, with the last date set for December 25.
The last date for filing nominations is December 29, 2025, followed by scrutiny of nomination papers from December 30, 2025, to January 4, 2026.
