West Bengal Chief Minister and All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee on Friday unveiled her party’s manifesto for the upcoming Assembly elections, announcing a significant expansion of welfare measures.
A key highlight of the manifesto is a ₹500 increase in the monthly financial assistance provided to women under the Lakshmi Bhandar scheme. If re-elected, the TMC government has pledged to raise the allowance for women in the general category from ₹1,000 to ₹1,500 per month.
For women belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, the monthly benefit will be enhanced from ₹1,200 to ₹1,700.
In addition, Banerjee promised a monthly stipend of ₹1,500 for unemployed youth, further strengthening the party’s social support framework.
The manifesto also outlines commitments to ensure permanent housing for every family and universal access to clean drinking water through household tap connections, underscoring the government’s focus on welfare-driven development.
