The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday, December 15, announced key organisational appointments as part of its preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections in Assam and Tamil Nadu.

National Vice-President and Member of Parliament Baijayant Panda has been appointed as the BJP’s Election In-Charge for Assam, signalling the party’s early mobilisation for the Assembly polls scheduled by April 2026.

Sunil Kumar Sharma, MLA and Leader of the Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, has been named Election Co-In-Charge for Assam. Former Union Minister Darshana Ben Jardosh has also been appointed as Election Co-In-Charge in the state.

For Tamil Nadu, Union Minister Piyush Goyal has been entrusted with overseeing the BJP’s election campaign, highlighting the party leadership’s focus on strengthening organisational coordination in the poll-bound state.

The BJP stated that these appointments are part of a broader organisational restructuring aimed at streamlining campaign management, improving coordination, and ensuring effective election preparedness well in advance of the Assembly elections.
