With the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections approaching, Chief Minister Manik Saha has projected strong confidence, asserting that the Bharatiya Janata Party is on course to secure all 28 seats.
Addressing the media after filing nomination papers in Longtharai Valley, Saha attributed the party’s optimism to its governance record, stating that sustained development and administrative stability have strengthened public trust. He added that the visible enthusiasm among voters signals a favourable electoral outcome for the BJP.
The final day of nominations witnessed a high-energy political show, with the Chief Minister leading an elaborate roadshow before accompanying party candidates—Bipin Debbarma, Sukesh Dutta Barua, and Esmell Joy Tripura—for the formal submission of their papers.

Saha also pointed to a growing sense of participation among tribal communities, noting that the democratic spirit on display reflects a positive momentum for the ruling party.
Despite the confident projections, political analysts describe the election as a decisive moment for the BJP. The TTAADC polls are widely viewed as a critical benchmark that will test the party’s organisational depth, grassroots reach, and electoral appeal in the state’s tribal-dominated regions.
By choosing to contest all seats independently, the BJP has effectively positioned the election as a referendum on its governance and leadership, particularly in areas where political equations remain complex and highly sensitive.
In the lead-up to the polls, the Chief Minister has intensified outreach efforts, highlighting achievements in infrastructure, welfare delivery, and peace-building, while attempting to consolidate support among indigenous voters.
Meanwhile, opposition forces and regional players are equally active, seeking to capitalise on local dynamics and challenge the BJP’s influence in the tribal belt.
Observers believe the outcome of the TTAADC elections will serve as a key indicator of public sentiment and could significantly influence Tripura’s broader political direction in the coming years.
