BJP set for landslide in TTAADC, says Manik Saha

Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Tuesday expressed strong confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is heading towards a clean sweep in the upcoming elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), predicting victory in all 28 seats.
Speaking to reporters after attending a joining programme at Debdaru in Jolaibari, Dr Saha said voters in the Sixth Schedule areas have already made up their minds in favour of the BJP. “People are spontaneously joining the BJP across the state. Wherever I go, I witness tremendous enthusiasm and support. People have understood the vision and objectives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Based on this, I foresee a clean sweep in the TTAADC polls,” he said.
At the programme, 110 families, representing around 330 voters, formally joined the BJP in the presence of the Chief Minister.
The TTAADC is currently governed by Tipra Motha, a junior ally in the BJP-led coalition. Criticising the present ADC administration, Dr Saha alleged that despite receiving substantial development funds over the past five years, the performance on the ground has been disappointing. “The work completed is extremely underwhelming. The public now knows who truly deserves to govern the TTAADC,” he said.
Expressing displeasure over Tipra Motha’s conduct within the coalition, the Chief Minister remarked, “We believe in tolerance and mutual respect. But partnership does not give anyone the license to act freely. If our workers are attacked despite being coalition partners, we are compelled to rethink and consider other options.”
Dr Saha also accused Tipra Motha of following Leftist political practices. “The kind of politics once practised by the Left in Tripura is now prevailing in the TTAADC areas. This trend must be rejected. The Sixth Schedule regions need transparent and accountable governance,” he added.
The Chief Minister further opposed the demand to introduce Roman script for Kokborok, reiterating the BJP’s stand on the issue.
