BJP Wins The Rajjya Sabha By-election In Tripura

As expected, BJP candidate Rajib Bhattacharya has won the by-election in the only vacant Rajya Sabha seat in Tripura. 

He got the votes of 47 MLAs from BJP, IPFT and Tipra Motha.

On Tuesday after the announcement as the winner, a huge bike procession of the BJP Yuva Morcha took him from the Assembly building.

On the other hand, Left Front candidate Sudhan Das of CPIM gets 10 votes. 

Congress abstained from voting in Rajya Sabha by-elections. 

As a result, 57 out of 60 MLAs exercised their right to vote on the day. BJP candidate Rajib Bhattacharya was felicitated by all the MLAs and top officials of the party after winning the Rajya Sabha by-election.

Rajib Bhattacharya said that 'the BJP government is working for the interest of the people. Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha have trusted me and given me the opportunity to serve as a Rajya Sabha MP. I am sure that i will be able to speed up the process of development of the people by going to the Rajya Sabha.'

He also said that BJP, IPFT and Tipra Motha together got 47 MLA votes. He thanked all the MLAs
