Bomb Hurled at Tipra Worker Before TTAADC Polls

With the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections scheduled within the next two to three months, the political climate in the region has grown increasingly volatile.

In a disturbing development, a crude bomb was allegedly hurled at the residence of Tipra Motha Party worker Mangal Debbarma, a resident of ADC Village in Jampuijla Nabasardarpara. The incident reportedly occurred between 9:00 pm and 10:00 pm on Saturday. The explosive device landed on a tree adjacent to the house, averting what could have been a catastrophic outcome.

Fortunately, no casualties or substantial damage were reported, and Debbarma narrowly escaped unscathed.

Upon receiving information about the attack, local MLA Biswajit Kalai promptly visited the victim’s residence on Sunday. He interacted with Debbarma and his family members, gathered a detailed account of the incident, and unequivocally condemned the act of violence. Kalai called for a swift and impartial investigation and demanded the immediate apprehension of those responsible. He also urged the administration to reinforce security arrangements in the area to prevent any recurrence of such incidents.

The episode has sent shockwaves through the locality, heightening tensions and deepening concerns ahead of the forthcoming council elections.
