Building a Future in Forensic Science: CM Manik Saha’s Vision for Tripura

When Tripura’s Chief Minister, Dr. Manik Saha, took the stage at the Second International Dental Conference held at the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, his words carried a vision that goes beyond health and education—it touched on the evolving role of science and justice in shaping society.

The Chief Minister proposed the introduction of a two-year postgraduate program in Forensic Science in Tripura, signaling the state’s commitment to building world-class infrastructure in this critical domain. His proposal to NFSU reflects the government’s larger ambition of preparing Tripura for the future, where forensic expertise will play a vital role in both law enforcement and scientific advancement.

“Forensic science is not just about solving crimes—it’s about ensuring truth, justice, and public trust in the system. That’s why Tripura is keen to create advanced facilities and academic opportunities in this field,” Dr. Saha emphasized during his address.

Progress Beyond 2018

Highlighting the state’s rapid progress since 2018, Dr. Saha pointed out how education and healthcare have undergone a transformation. A state-of-the-art dental college has already been set up within just 8–9 months of special initiatives, supported by the Prime Minister’s vision and cooperation.

This blend of healthcare reforms and the push for higher scientific education positions Tripura as a state not only advancing in traditional development metrics but also investing in future-ready sectors.

A Call to Discover Tripura

True to his role as the state’s ambassador, Dr. Saha also extended an invitation to the global gathering. He urged delegates attending the conference to visit Tripura’s diverse tourist destinations. With its lush landscapes, cultural richness, and historical landmarks, tourism remains a vital part of the state’s development narrative.

Why Forensic Science Matters Now

The Chief Minister’s pitch for a postgraduate program in forensic science comes at a time when India is rapidly scaling up its capabilities in forensic investigation and criminal justice. With NFSU already functioning as a hub of innovation and advanced training in the field, Tripura’s partnership could help create a regional center of excellence in the Northeast.
