CAA: Citizenship Given One Person in Assam

Amidst the atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh, the Indian government has granted Indian citizenship to a Bangladeshi Hindu.
Dulan Das, who lives in Assam, has got citizenship from India. Dulan Das has now become the first person to get citizenship in Assam under CAA.
Das, originally from Sylhet in Bangladesh, entered India in 1988 and settled in Silchar in Cachar district. One of his relatives said he had not applied for the National Register of Citizens (NRC) but managed to obtain various government documents, including a voter card, driving licence and PAN and Aadhaar cards, despite his illegal status.
Silchar resident Dulon Das has become the first person from Assam to get Indian citizenship under the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA). The Union Home Ministry informed Das of his successful application at 3:41 pm on August 13, 2024. Das, 50, had applied for citizenship on April 1, 2024 with registration number 202400800772. His family moved to Silchar from Sylhet region of Bangladesh in 1988 due to repeated attacks.
During the application process, Das provided a land deed from his father, who had purchased land in Sylhet district in 1986. Das is married to an Indian woman, and they have two children born in Assam
