Cabinet Approved 4 Railway Projects. Third line On Bhagalpur-Jamalpur Route. 2 In Gujarat

The Union Cabinet met on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the meeting, four railway projects worth Rs 12,328 crore were approved. These include the new Deshalpar-Hajipir-Luna and Vayor-Lakhpat railway line in the Kutch region of Gujarat, which will cost Rs 2,526 crore.
Besides, the Bhagalpur-Jamalpur third line project (53 km) in Bihar will be constructed at a cost of Rs 1,156 crore and the Furkating-New Tinsukia doubling project (194 km) in Assam will cost Rs 3,634 crore.
At the same time, the Secunderabad (Sanathnagar)-Wadi third and fourth line project has been approved in Karnataka and Telangana. Its cost will be Rs 5,012 crore and it will be completed in 5 years. These four projects will connect 565 km route by rail. This will directly benefit 3,108 villages and more than 47 lakh people.
These four projects will also generate 251 lakh days of employment. It is estimated that 68 million tonnes of additional freight will be possible every year. This will increase the capacity of rail operations, reduce congestion and benefit passengers as well as industries.
The government says that these projects will reduce logistics costs, reduce oil imports and significantly reduce carbon emissions. It is estimated that 360 crore kg of CO₂ emissions will be reduced, which will be equivalent to planting 14 crore trees.
The new Deshalpar-Hajipir-Luna and Vayor-Lakhpat railway line in Kutch, Gujarat will be 145 route km and 164 track km long and will be completed in three years. This route will facilitate the transportation of goods like salt, cement, coal, clinker and bentonite.
Apart from this, tourism will also get a boost in Rann of Kutch, Dholavira, Koteshwar Temple, Narayan Sarovar and Lakhpat Fort. 13 new stations will be built in this project and about 16 lakh people of 866 villages will be benefited.
