Cameroon National Held Near Agartala Railway Station

Authorities in Tripura have detained a foreign national near Agartala Railway Station on charges of illegal entry into India.

According to Amtali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Paritosh Das, the individual—identified as Austin Ayuk Etta, a native of Cameroon—was apprehended in the vicinity of Agartala Railway Station while allegedly attempting to board a train.

Preliminary investigations indicate that he had unlawfully infiltrated Indian territory by crossing the Bangladesh border.

During interrogation, he was unable to furnish any valid identification or travel documentation, prompting his immediate detention.

The accused is scheduled to be produced before a competent court, where law enforcement officials will seek a five-day custodial remand to facilitate further investigation.

A formal case has been registered under Sections 61(ii)(A) and 143(ii) of the Indian Penal Code, in conjunction with Sections 21 and 23 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act.

It can be noted that in 2025 also two Cameroon intruders had been arrested in Tripura.
