Campaigning Ends In Bihar, FIR Filed Against Lallan Singh

Campaigning for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections concluded at 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Voting for 121 seats across 18 districts will take place on November 6.

Meanwhile, political tensions escalated after the Election Commission filed an FIR against Union Minister and JDU leader Rajiv Ranjan, popularly known as Lallan Singh, for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct.

A viral video showed Lallan Singh telling voters to “lock up certain leaders in their homes on election day.” The RJD shared the clip on social media, accusing him of attempting to prevent poor voters from casting their ballots.

The Election Commission issued a notice to Singh, seeking a response. However, the JDU dismissed the allegations, claiming the video was edited.

In another development, RJD leader and Grand Alliance’s chief ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav announced that if elected, his government would deposit ₹30,000 annually into women’s accounts under the Mai Behin Maan Yojana. He said beneficiaries would receive ₹1.5 lakh over five years, and Jeevika Didis would be made permanent with a monthly pay of ₹30,000.
