CAS To Pronounce The Decision on Vines Phogat On 11 August

The Indian wrestler is waiting to see what decision CAS gives on her plea for a silver medal. Vinesh's wait has increased as CAS has extended the date of the decision to 11 August.

The court of arbitration for sports, CAS, has issued a press release stating that the decision will now be announced on 11 August, meaning Vinesh will have to wait for another 24 hours.

In the statement issued, it was told that now the decision on Vinesh Phogat's disqualification case will come on the evening of August 11, but detailed information related to the decision is reported to be released on August 13.

Let us tell you that United World Wrestling (UWW) disqualified Vinesh Phogat before the final match of 50 kg category women's wrestling because her weight was found to be 100 grams more than the set standard. Both Vinesh Phogat and UWW were given the opportunity to choose a lawyer.

Vinesh had filed an appeal against her disqualification on August 7 and she was personally present at the hearing held last Friday. Senior advocate Harish Salve and Vidushpat Singhania presented arguments on behalf of the Indian wrestler, after which UWW also presented its side and it was told that the hearing lasted for about an hour.

This decision was to be announced on August 10 at 9:30 pm Indian time, but at present the wait of Vinesh Phogat and Indian fans has increased by a few hours. First CAS will issue an interim decision and after that it will formally issue a statement of the decision.

Let us remind you that Vinesh had earlier appealed to play the final match, but it was rejected. The hearing proceeded on the argument that Vinesh should be given the silver medal. Well, instead of Vinesh Phogat, a Cuban wrestler was given a place in the final
