Case Filed Against Yuvraj, Harbhajan, Raina For Making 'Fun of The Disabled'

Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh and Suresh Raina may soon be seen making rounds of police stations and courts as National Center for Promotion of Employment for Disabled (NCPEDP) President Arman Ali has filed a complaint against the four cricketers with the in-charge of Amar Colony Police Station.

Along with this, he has also filed a complaint against Meta India's Vice President and Managing Director Sandhya Devanathan. Along with Yuvi, Bhajji and Raina, another Indian cricketer Gurkeerat Mann is the fourth player  in this case.

Let us tell you what the whole matter is and why a police complaint was filed against these players.

In the recently concluded World Cup Legends Final in England, India Champions won the trophy by defeating Pakistan Champions by five wickets. After this big win, the former players shared a video on Instagram.

In the video, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh and Raina are seen limping and holding their backs, which shows how much physical impact the match has had on their bodies.

The title with the video read, 'Body ki tauba-tauba ho gayi hai 15 days of Legends cricket mein... every part of the body is breaking down. Direct challenge to our brothers Vicky Kaushal and Karan Aujla from our version of the song Tauba-Tauba. What a song.'

Now Indian para athletes have accused former cricketers of making fun of the disabled. World Championship gold medalist para badminton player Manasi Joshi said that this video sets a very bad example.

Amidst the growing controversy over the video, Harbhajan Singh clarified on 'X' and said that his intention was not to insult anyone. Arman Ali, President of the National Center for Promotion of Employment for Disabled (NCPEDP), has accused Instagram-owned Meta of violating the Information Technology Act 2000 by posting such content in the complaint

Armaan Ali said in the complaint, 'This video is a blatant violation of Article 21 of the Indian Constitution, which gives every person the right to live with dignity. It also violates Section 92 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, and also violates the Supreme Court guidelines laid down in the case of Nipun Malhotra vs Sony Pictures Films India Pvt Ltd (2004 SCC Online SC 1639). '

He urged the authorities to take immediate and appropriate action against the persons involved in the incident and stressed the need to hold celebrities accountable for their actions, especially when they hurt the dignity of vulnerable communities.

Harbhajan Singh, popularly known as the Turbanator, said in a post released on 'X', 'I want to clarify to those who are complaining about our recent 'Tauba Tauba' video on social media after winning the championship in England that we did not want to hurt anyone's feelings. We respect every person and community and this video was just to show the effect on our body after playing cricket continuously for 15 days. Breaking bodies... We were not trying to insult or offend anyone... Still, if people feel that we have done something wrong... then all I can say on my behalf is that I apologize to everyone... Please stop it here and move on. Stay happy and healthy.
