Cause of Mysterious Explosion in Agartala Flat Yet to Confirm

Already 24 hours have passed but it's yet to confirm about the cause of Mistirious explosion which took place in a flat which is very near of the Tripura State Police Headquarters.

On Thursday, July 19, around 12:10 pm, a large part of the capital Agartala was shaken by the sound of a huge explosion. The source of the explosion was almost at the gate of the state police headquarters. Due to the intensity of the explosion, the two-storied house damaged and the husband and wife who were in the first floor in the building flew down the neighboring apartment over the boundary wall of the house. The doors and windows of almost all the adjacent houses are broken due to the explosion. 

According to the report Dr Biswajit Sutradhar's twi storied building is in a small lane opposite if the police headquarters on Akhaura Road near Fire Service Chowmuhani in the capital Agartala.

Even if Akhaura Road is taken into account, the house is less than a hundred meters from the gate of the police headquarters. This Sutradhar house, which is in the highly secure zone, is now the main focus of discussion. 

Dr. Biswajit Sutradhar is an Anesthesiologist at GBP Hospital. He lives with his wife Rupa Sutradhar on the first floor of the house. His elderly mother Gita Sutradhar lives in the ground floor. At around 12:00 pm on Thursday night, the explosion in his two-storey house shook a wide area including Joynagar, Ramnagar, Border Golchakkar area. The windows of many houses in the far distance has been broken neatly. The doors and windows of the houses close to Sutradhar's house are damaged. 

Due to the Mistirious explosion Dr. Biswajit Sutradhar and his wife Rupa Sutradhar fall in the ground floor parking place of adjacent Shivaloy Apartment breaking the wall of the first floor room. 

All the houses in the area are of concrete building .Thinking there was an earthquake, everyone ran out of the house in fear. Neighbors said that smoke like a red meteor was spread all around. The husband and wife, who fell down with the  mattress and pillows, came down who were rescued the neighbors. Blood was oozing from various parts of Biswajit Sutradhar and Rupa Sutradhar's body. Most of their bodies were burnt. 

Firefighters rushed to the spot and took the injured in GBP hospital. Rupa Sutradhar's condition is said to be critical. According to the GBO Hospital sources, both the husband and wife have been referred to Kolkata on Friday night. A part of the house has been blown away in the blast, but the elderly mother of Dr. Sutradhar, who was in the ground floor, was unharmed.

People from different parts of the capital gathered to see the house throughout the day on Friday. The house has been cordoned off by the police. All the iron grills of Dr. Biswajit Sutradhar's double-storey house were lying in the neighboring houses. 

The ceiling of Biswajit Sutradhar's two-story house is sagging. Cracks have appeared in various parts of the building. One of the nearby damaged houses belongs to Swarup Deb, deputy director of the agriculture department. All the doors of his  two-story houses were broken. Even in the evening, the masons were working to fix the doors and windows. 

He said that his wife's hand is cut by the impact of the glass inside the house. Biswajit Sutradhar's chair can be seen lying on the roof of a nearby house.

The police have been staying in the house since the horrific explosion. Dog squad, bomb squad, forensics and disaster management team are continuing the investigation. What is this explosion from? Even at 10 o'clock on Saturday morning no response was received from the police. The common public is surprised that the police have not yet been able to find the cause of such a large explosion near the headquarters of the Police Administration. 

The severity of the incident, the environment at the scene, the statements of the eyewitnesses all suggest that this was not an ordinary explosion.

According to the local residents there was such things in Dr. Biswajit Sutradhar's two-storey house from which such a terrible explosion have taken place. Although the walls and ceiling of the two-storey house were broken, the furniture was scattered, but the gas cylinder, AC, refrigerator, microwave etc. were all intact, police said. 

Question has been raised whether there was any kind of explosive material stored in the house of Dr. Biswajit Sutradhar. As Biswajit Sutradhar is an anesthesiologist, many people think that he can stock various chemicals at home. He might do experiment with these. 

Almost 24 hours have passed since the incident, but the police have not been able to find out anything about this mysterious explosion, the mystery is getting more intense. 

Locals believe that they wanted to leave quickly with the money after observation that the explosion might take place, but they were not saved. But until the police is able to give a detailed report, the discussion will continue. Locals want a proper investigation on this matter.

However, during the night West Tripura District Superintendent of Police Kiran Kumar revealed the initial observations of the forensic team and said that an oxygen cylinder was found in Dr. Sutradhar's room. It had a slight leakage. The police superintendent said that the combination of oxygen and methane gas can cause an explosion. 

However, the Superintendent of Police did not say how the oxygen cylinder remained intact when the explosion occurred due to this reason
