CD Ratio Plays Important Role In The Economic Development Of The State: Tripura CM

The Chief Minister of Tripura, Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha, emphasized the important role of the Credit-Deposit (CD) ratio in fostering economic development during his address at the North Eastern Bankers Conference. He highlighted that under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, 10.83 lakh Jan Dhan accounts have been opened in the state, showcasing the initiative's success in financial inclusion. 

He noted that every district in Tripura now has ATM service facilities, reflecting an improvement in banking accessibility. Additionally, the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Loan Scheme has benefited many in the state, further boosting entrepreneurship and economic activity.

The Chief Minister pointed out that most villages in Tripura are now covered under banking services. He also stressed the importance of implementing central flagship projects to strengthen the financial infrastructure, with specific focus on sectors like agriculture, MSMEs, and currency lending.

Dr. Saha reiterated the significance of a higher CD ratio in driving economic progress and expressed optimism about the pivotal role banks can play in improving this metric in the near future.
