CM Calls for Tech-Driven Policing in Tripura

Emphasising the imperative of technological integration in contemporary law enforcement, Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha asserted that policing must evolve in tandem with the rapidly transforming modalities of crime.

Addressing the Police Week Parade 2026 at the Manoranjan Debbarma Memorial Police Stadium in Arundhutinagar, he underscored that maintaining public order in a dynamic socio-criminal landscape requires strategic adoption of cutting-edge technologies and enhanced institutional efficiency.

Inspecting the ceremonial parade and receiving salutations from personnel across various wings of the force, the Chief Minister remarked that Tripura currently enjoys a stable and peaceful environment.

He noted a measurable improvement in the state’s law and order matrix, citing an 8.30 percent decline in overall crime in 2025.

In the domain of crimes against women, Tripura ranks 11th from the bottom among 28 states.

To reinforce women’s safety, nine dedicated women police stations are operational, complemented by 24-hour helplines functioning in every police station.

Addressing road safety, he highlighted that 16 black spots and 84 accident-prone zones across national highways and other arterial roads have been identified for targeted intervention.

These corrective measures have yielded tangible results, with road accidents declining by 8.82 percent and fatalities dropping by 13 percent over the past year.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to a drug-free Tripura, the Chief Minister stated that a zero-tolerance policy is being rigorously implemented.

The registration of NDPS cases has increased by 11.06 percent, reflecting intensified enforcement. Over the past few years, narcotics valued at approximately ₹1,64,189 crore have been seized and destroyed, with sustained operations continuing.

To secure the state’s international frontiers, coordinated operations with the Border Security Force have been strengthened.

This year alone, 576 illegal infiltrators and 102 facilitators involved in cross-border trafficking have been apprehended. Recognising cybercrime as an emerging frontier of criminal activity, the state has established cyber police stations and initiated specialised countermeasures.
The Chief Minister further observed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi envisions the modernisation of state security apparatuses nationwide.

In alignment with this vision, the Tripura government has undertaken systematic reforms to augment capacity and manpower.

Recently, 953 constables were inducted, with recruitment underway for an additional 916 constables and 218 sub-inspectors.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister flagged off 114 police motorcycles and 22 new patrol vehicles as part of an initiative to equip every police station with enhanced mobility infrastructure.

He also visited a blood donation camp organised by the armed forces, commending the voluntary participation of 500 personnel.

Officers and jawans were felicitated for distinguished service, and meritorious students from the families of security personnel were honoured.
Among those present were Director General of Police Anurag and Home Secretary Abhishek Singh, along with other senior officials.

Interacting with the media after the event, the Chief Minister revealed that the state is exploring the deployment of Artificial Intelligence to further refine law enforcement mechanisms.

Additionally, GPS-enabled systems are being considered as part of a comprehensive strategy to mitigate road accidents and enhance real-time monitoring.
