CM Meets Family of Dwipanita Pal, Assures Probe

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday visited the residence of seven-year-old Dwipanita Pal, who died earlier this week after allegedly suffering sunstroke during a school event in the capital Agartala.

The Chief Minister assured the grieving family of a thorough investigation and maximum government support.

Dwipanita, a Class II student of Khudiram Bose English Medium School, had gone to attend a “Vande Bharat” programme held in the open school grounds under the scorching sun.

According to the family, several young students were made to stand in the heat during the function.

Dwipanita reportedly informed a teacher that she was feeling unwell, but was told that standing in the sun in winter “would cause no harm.”

Moments later, the child collapsed on the ground. She was rushed to GBP Hospital, where doctors diagnosed sunstroke and partial paralysis.

Despite continuous medical care, Dwipanita passed away on Tuesday, triggering massive outrage among locals and on social media, with demands for strict action against the concerned teacher.

Following the incident, Chief Minister Dr. Saha, accompanied by West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Bishal Kumar, and School Education Director N. C. Sharma visited the family to speak to the parents and understand the sequence of events.

Dr. Saha termed the incident “heartbreaking” and said the government had stayed in touch with doctors throughout her treatment.

“No amount of assistance can bring Dwipanita back, but a proper investigation has been ordered,” the Chief Minister said.

He instructed the District Magistrate and Education Department to submit a report and assured that appropriate action would follow based on the findings.

Senior officials, including the DM and Education Director, were present during the Chief Minister’s visit.
