In a decisive organizational development, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) has formally approved the constitution of the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee. The announcement was made through an official press release issued by AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal on Monday, underscoring the party’s renewed focus on strengthening its base in the northeastern state.

The committee will be chaired by Shri Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka, whose appointment is seen as an effort to bring fresh strategic direction to the state unit. The inclusion of senior leaders and veterans alongside young faces is designed to strike a balance between experience and emerging leadership.

Additionally, the heads of all frontal organizations of the Tripura Congress will serve as Ex-Officio Members, ensuring that every wing of the party is represented in the state’s strategic decision-making body.

Strategic Importance

The reconstitution of the PAC is widely regarded as a preparatory move ahead of upcoming political contests, as the Congress seeks to reassert its presence in a state dominated by the BJP and regional outfits. By including leaders from various communities and professional backgrounds, the committee aims to project inclusivity and build a stronger organizational foundation.

Political observers note that this restructuring signals the Congress leadership’s intent to infuse unity, discipline, and renewed energy into the party machinery in Tripura, which has often struggled with factionalism in recent years.

The development marks a critical juncture for the Congress in Tripura, as it positions itself to take on future political challenges with a revitalized leadership structure.
