Expressing deep outrage over the alleged role of the police in a series of shooting incidents, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) staged an unconventional protest in Vishalgarh, using toy dolls as symbolic representations to underscore their accusations.
Party leaders, workers, and supporters assembled this morning in front of the SDPO office, turning the demonstration into a striking visual critique of what they described as police inaction. The protest, organized around 9 am by the CPI(M) Vishalgarh Sub-Division Committee, also included the submission of a memorandum that sharply condemned law enforcement, branding them as “puppets” and accusing the administration of complete inertia.
CPI(M) Vishalgarh Sub-Division Committee Secretary Parthapratima Majumdar alleged that Vishalgarh has deteriorated into a hotspot for illegal arms trafficking, extortion, politically motivated violence, narcotics trade, and brazen daylight robberies. According to him, an atmosphere of pervasive fear now grips ordinary citizens, with markets shutting early and residents reluctant to step outside their homes.
He further contended that violence and intimidation have escalated since the political transition in 2018, allegedly with the backing of the ruling establishment. During this period, he claimed, two party workers have been killed, over 500 leaders and supporters assaulted, and numerous homes, businesses, and even party offices vandalized repeatedly.
The CPI(M) maintains that despite repeated appeals to the police and administrative authorities, no meaningful action has been taken. Consequently, the party alleges, the law and order framework in Vishalgarh has effectively collapsed, with illegal arms proliferation, looting, political violence, drug trafficking, and murder becoming disturbingly routine.
Amid this escalating crisis, the party asserts that the people of Vishalgarh are yearning for the restoration of peace, security, and democratic normalcy.
