Traffic on the Assam-Agartala National Highway has come to a standstill due to heavy rains.
Assam Agartala National Highway is known as the life line of Tripura state.
Every day, hundreds of freight vehicles carry goods from outside the state to various parts of the state, including the capital city of Agartala, through this national highway.
Assam-Agartala National Highway was widened just a few months ago. Rs 200 crore project was taken up. Nitin Shai Construction, a company from out of Tripura, was awarded the contract for widening the national highway.
Complaints of shoddy work began to surface after the road widening began.
Various news media also broadcast news about this. At that time, Amit Das, Chief Engineer of the NH Division of the Public Work Department and Anjan Kumar Das, Executive Engineer, ignored the complaint.
And with their support, the construction company does low quality work.
As a result of heavy rain, a large part of the national highway in the 47-mile Mahadev Tila area is currently broken. A part of the road collapsed into a ditch. As a result traffic is completely stopped.
Hundreds of vehicles are standing in line on both sides of the road due to traffic jam. Big trucks carrying goods from outside the state have been standing still for two days.
"It will take several days to repair the national highway. If the freight cars are standing still day after day in this way, its impact will be to some extent in the state.
Because the cars carrying various goods from outside the state have been standing for two days. The drivers are not able to say when the national highway will be repaired, when the traffic will be normal
