Bird, who officiated in 66 Test matches and 69 one-day internationals—including three World Cup finals—was admired worldwide for his integrity, humor, and unmistakable style on the field. A former player for Yorkshire and Leicestershire, he made his mark as an international umpire and later served as president of Yorkshire County Cricket Club from 2014, a role he held with pride.
