Crime Scene Has Been Tampered: CBI To SC on Kolkata Murder Case

The Supreme Court today (22 August) heard the rape-murder case of a trainee doctor that took place on 9 August at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College Hospital.

After which the AIIMS doctors have called off their strike that was going on for 11 days.

Earlier, the CJI had said that doctors should return to work. I know the condition of hospitals. I myself have slept on the floor of a government hospital when a member of my family was ill. No action will be taken against you after you return

CJI said that we were told that doctors are ready to go back to work. State governments can make some security arrangements for doctors. We direct the Union Health Ministry to ensure security in consultation with the Chief Secretaries and DGPs of the states. This exercise should be completed in 1 week. States should implement it within 2 weeks.

During the hearing, CBI told the court that the crime scene has been tampered with.

Justice JB Pardiwala said that the role of Kolkata Police is doubtful. I have not seen such negligence in investigation in my 30 years of career. The next hearing in the case will be on September 5.
