Delhi Police Withdraws Security Of Women Wrestlers Who Are Going To Testify Against Brij Bhushan: Vinesh

Wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who retired from wrestling after the Paris Olympics, has made a big allegation.

She has said that the Delhi Police has withdrawn the security of those women wrestlers who were going to testify against Brij Bhushan Singh. This hearing was to be held on Thursday.

Another Olympic medalist Sakshi Malik has also made the same allegation.

Sakshi said that the police have withdrawn the security of those women wrestlers who are involved in the ongoing sexual harassment case against the former head of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI). Vinesh wrote in her X post, 'Delhi Police has withdrawn the security of those women wrestlers who are going to testify against Brij Bhushan in court.'

In 2023, both Vinesh and Sakshi were among the wrestlers who protested against Brij Bhushan and the WFI. India's Sports Ministry dissolved the panel led by Brij Bhushan Singh.

The UWW also temporarily banned the WFI for delaying the election of office bearers. In April 2023, seven female wrestlers filed sexual harassment complaints against Brij Bhushan Singh.

These included a minor. In May, the Supreme Court of India closed hearing on three petitions filed by the wrestlers and ordered adequate security to be provided to all seven complainants.

Delhi Police has rejected all the allegations of Vinesh and Sakshi in its reply. New Delhi DCP Devesh Mahala, while responding to the allegations, said that the PSO was called for 'regular firing and training exercise'.

He said that there is no order to withdraw the security of women wrestlers. Devesh Mahala said, 'The PSO was called for firing and training exercise. This is a regular process in the police. The PSO has already reached back and will reach with the 2 girls by tonight.

The wrestlers are also being informed about this. There is no order to withdraw the security. If there is any delay in the arrival of the security personnel, then it is being investigated
