Devastating Flood: Tripura CM Announced Special Package Of Rs 564

The recent floods have caused extensive damage across the state. The state government will implement a package of Rs 564 crore to provide immediate relief to the people of the state and rebuild infrastructure.
Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha announced this package in the second half of the Assembly session today.
He said in the assembly that the announced package will be paid from the state government fund. Roads, bridges, power transmission lines, agriculture and horticulture, cultivable agricultural land, fisheries, livestock, dams of various rivers, people's houses have been extensively damaged in the recent floods. The initial estimate of the damage is about Rs 14 thousand 247 crores.
In the Assembly, Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha said that Rs 564 crore have been distributed to various departments for the relief of flood-affected people and construction of infrastructure. He said that Rs 70 crore rupees have been given to the food and public procurement department. An additional 10 kg of rice will be given per ration card every month for the next two months. About 9 lakh 80 thousand ration consumers of the state will benefit from it.
Rs 15 crores have been allocated to the Department of Agriculture to provide financial assistance for providing seeds and fertilizers and other agricultural support for kharif and rabi crop production. Rs 5 crores have been allocated for the Department of Horticulture. The Department of Horticulture will provide financial assistance for cultivation of winter vegetables and flower cultivation, repair of irrigation ditches, fertilizers and removal of silt from damaged land. 10 crore has been allocated to the Department of Fisheries to provide financial support to fish farms and hatchery owners for purchase of fish fry for fish production. Rs 5 crore has been allocated to the Department of Animal Resources Development for providing immediate assistance to the affected animals, provision of animal feed along with water and medicine supply to the animal farms and other works. Rs 12 crores have been allocated to the Education Department for providing text books to students of flood affected families and for repair and maintenance of schools/colleges. Rs 50 crores have been allocated to the PWD (DWS) department. This money will be used to ensure drinking water supply and piped water supply to flood-affected schools, Anganwadi centers and affected families.
He said that Rs 12 crore have been allocated to the Urban Development Department for the repair and maintenance of the city's road and pipeline system. 40 crore has been allocated to the Rural Development Department for repair and maintenance of rural roads, drains and office buildings. 10 crores have been allocated for the health department. This money has been allocated to purchase 2000 bags of bleaching powder, 2 lakh ORS packets, 20 lakh halogen tablets, 10 lakh zinc tablets, fever medicine and skin disease medicine for disinfection and diarrhea prevention. 35 crores have been allocated for completion (WR). This money has been earmarked for the renovation, repair and maintenance of river embankments, channels, major projects. Rs 100 crores have been allocated to the Power Department for speedy renovation and maintenance of power transmission lines, transformers, conductors, cables and accessories. Rs 200 crores have been allocated to the Roads and Buildings Department for reconstruction, renovation and maintenance of flood damaged roads and drains.
The Chief Minister told the Assembly that the District Magistrate and officials of various departments have assessed the damage at the field level. After assessing the actual damage, the state government will submit a memorandum to the Union Home Ministry for additional funds required for relief and rehabilitation. It will take months for the state to come out of this situation and rebuild the infrastructure to keep up with the development.
