After the landslide victory of Mahayuti in Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha elections, BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis took oath as Chief Minister on Thursday after 11 days. In the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CMs and Deputy CMs of 22 states, Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan administered the oath of office and secrecy to Fadnavis. Devendra Fadnavis was elected as the leader of the BJP Legislative Party on 4 December. Before taking oath on Thursday, Fadnavis visited Siddhivinayak temple. There he took the blessings of Ganpati Bappa. After this, he also worshipped Gau Mata. In the oath taking ceremony, first Devendra Fadnavis and then Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar took oath as Deputy CM. Chief Ministers of many states were present in the oath taking ceremony along with UP CM Yogi Adityanath.
Fadnavis, Nationalist Congress Party chief Ajit Pawar also took oath at Azad Maidan in Mumbai. Apart from this, Eknath Shinde, who was the Chief Minister of Maharashtra till now, also took oath. Both have been made deputy CMs in the new government. Eknath Shinde was the Chief Minister in the previous Mahayuti government. Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar were deputy CMs. After BJP won 132 seats, Devendra Fadnavis emerged as a contender for the post of Chief Minister. Finally, his name was finalized. The swearing-in of the ministers of the Fadnavis government is expected to take place after a few days.
special session has been called from December 7 to administer oath to the new MLAs in Maharashtra and to elect the speaker. After this session, the winter session of the Assembly will be held in Nagpur in mid-December. If sources are to be believed, before this Fadnavis will expand his cabinet. The total number of ministers in the previous government was 28. This time the number of ministers is expected to increase. A 50:30:20 formula is expected in Mahayuti 2.0. Under this, BJP may get 21 and Shiv Sena and NCP may get 12 and 10 ministerial posts respectively.
Devendra Fadnavis took oath as the Chief Minister of the state for the third time at Azad Maidan in Mumbai. Fadnavis became the Chief Minister of the state for the first time in 2014. After this, he ran the government for full five years. In 2019, Fadnavis' government fell due to the separation of Shiv Sena and the return of Ajit Pawar who had come from NCP. He could remain CM for five days. For the first time, Fadnavis took oath at Wankhede Stadium, while the second time at Raj Bhavan and for the third time he took oath as Chief Minister at Azad Maidan. Big personalities of the industry including Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan were present in this swearing-in ceremony.
