Dhankhar Demands Pension As Former Congress MLA of Rajasthan. Former Vice President Was Silent For 40 Days

Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has now re-applied to the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Secretariat for pension as a former MLA. Dhankhar was a Congress MLA from Kishangarh seat from 1993 to 1998. As a former MLA, he was getting pension till July 2019. The pension was stopped after he became the Governor of West Bengal in July 2019.

Now after stepping down from the post of Vice President, he has applied again as a former MLA. Dhankhar suddenly resigned from the post of Vice President on 21 July.

The Assembly Secretariat has started processing Dhankhar's pension application. He will start receiving former MLA's pension from the date his resignation from the post of Vice President is accepted.

The pension of a former MLA stops as soon as he gets a government post. The pension of a former MLA starts as soon as the term of the MLA is over. If a former MLA is nominated to any government post or becomes a minister, then the Vidhan Sabha Secretariat is informed about it in a prescribed format. After this, the pension stops.

After completion of tenure from a government post, one has to apply in the prescribed format and inform the Vidhan Sabha Secretariat. After this, the pension starts again. Jagdeep Dhankhar has also applied under the same process.

Jagdeep Dhankhar will get three types of pension (former Vice President, former MP, former MLA). Former Governor does not get pension. Therefore, Dhankhar will also not get pension as a former Governor.

Former MLA gets pension of 35 thousand rupees per month. Pension keeps on increasing with each term. After five years, the person who has been MLA for each term after five years gets additional pension by adding 1600 rupees per month for each term after five years.

A one-time MLA gets a pension of Rs 35,000, a two-time MLA gets Rs 42,000 and a three-time MLA gets Rs 50,000. If the former MLA has crossed the age of 70, the pension increases by 20 percent.

Dhankhar has been an MLA once. His age is 75 years. In such a situation, he will get 20 percent more pension. He will get pension by adding 20 percent to Rs 35,000 per month. This pension is Rs 42,000.

Dhankhar will get a pension of around Rs 2 lakh per month as a former Vice President. He will get a pension of 42 thousand rupees as a former MLA and 31 thousand rupees as a former MP every month. In this way, by combining all three pensions, he will get 2 lakh 73 thousand rupees every month.

Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has been 'silent' for the last 40 days. The family has not said anything about his health so far. The family says that he is resting these days.

The new Vice President will be elected on September 9. Therefore, before that Dhankhar has to shift to the new residence.

Now the question is whether Dhankhar will come to Rajasthan or will he shift to a government residence in Delhi? As per protocol, the government has allotted a Type 8 bungalow in Delhi. Shifting may take three to four months. Currently, Dhankhar has been allotted a government bungalow on former President APJ Abdul Kalam Marg.

Currently a Union Minister lives in that bungalow. He will vacate this house, then it will be renovated. In such a situation, it will take some time for the bungalow to be ready. The department is looking for a temporary house so that Dhankhar can be shifted there before the new Vice President arrives. Other options are also open.

A house of up to 2000 square yards can also be given to the former Vice President on rent. This can be anywhere in Delhi or elsewhere.

A few days ago, a delegation from Rajasthan had gone to meet him. During this time too, he refused to say anything about the future. Many speculations are being made about his resignation.

The contest for the post of Vice President is between Justice B Sudarshan Reddy and CP Radhakrishnan. Maharashtra Governor Radhakrishnan is the NDA candidate and former Supreme Court judge Reddy is the candidate of India Alliance. Voting for the post of Vice President will be held in Parliament House on 9 September from 10 am to 5 pm. Counting of votes will start at 6 pm, one hour after the end of voting, and then the results will be declared.
