Dhoni Included Into ICC's Hall of Fame. 11th Indian To Achieve This Feat

Dhoni has become the 11th Indian player to receive this honor. ICC said about Dhoni's career, "17,266 international runs, 829 catches and 538 matches. These figures are the proof not only of his talent but also of his consistency, fitness and long career."

While reacting to this honour, Dhoni said, "It is a great honour to be named in the ICC Hall of Fame. It is a matter of pride for me to see my name in the list of legendary players from around the world. I will always cherish this moment."

A total of 7 players have been included in the list of Hall of Fame 2025 by ICC. These include 5 male and 2 female players. The male players include South Africa's Hashim Amla, India's Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Australia's Matthew Hayden, South Africa's Graeme Smith and New Zealand's Daniel Vettori.

Among the women cricketers, Pakistan's Sana Mir and England's Sarah Taylor have received this honour.

ICC said that in 2007, when India was eliminated early in the ODI World Cup, Dhoni was made the captain for the T20 World Cup in a difficult situation. That young team had new faces like Rohit Sharma, RP Singh, Dinesh Karthik and Robin Uthappa. Dhoni showed such confidence with these players that India won the title by defeating Pakistan in the final.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah said that through the Hall of Fame, we honor those players who made cricket special by displaying great game and inspired new generations.

Jai Shah said, "This year we have got the opportunity to include 7 great players in the ICC Hall of Fame. I heartily congratulate everyone on behalf of ICC. Hopefully this honor will be a memorable moment for them."

Dhoni is the only Indian captain to date who has led India to victory in all three ICC trophies - 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy. Under his leadership, India also became the number-1 team in Tests. Although he retired from international cricket on 15 August 2020, he is still playing in the IPL.
