A major revelation has happened in the murder case of Raja Raghuvanshi of Indore during his honeymoon in Meghalaya. Police said that his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi was involved in the murder of Raja. She had called the hired killers. DGP Nongraang, while revealing the case, said that four people including his wife have been arrested in connection with the murder. East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Sim said that on Monday one more person was arrested from Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh. In this way, a total of five people have been arrested so far.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma wrote on Twitter, "Within seven days, the police have achieved a major breakthrough in the Raja murder case. Three attackers hailing from Madhya Pradesh have been arrested. The woman has surrendered. The operation to nab another attacker is still on."
Earlier on Monday morning, DGP I Nongrang said that Indore tourist Raja Raghuvanshi was allegedly murdered by people hired by his wife during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. He said that wife Sonam has surrendered before the police in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, while three other attackers were arrested in overnight raids. Two have been arrested from Indore (Madhya Pradesh) and one from Lalitpur (Uttar Pradesh).
He said one person was arrested from Uttar Pradesh while two other accused were nabbed by the SIT from Indore. He said Sonam surrendered at the Nandganj police station in Uttar Pradesh and was later arrested. Nongrang said the arrested persons have revealed that the wife had hired them to kill Raghuvanshi. The operation is still on in Madhya Pradesh to nab some more people involved in the crime.
In the case, Meghalaya Police held a press conference in the afternoon. During this, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Sim said that the first person arrested is 19-year-old Akash Rajput from Lalitpur. The second accused Vishal Singh Chauhan (age 22 years) is from Indore. The third Raj Singh Kushwaha (age 21 years) is from Indore. Yesterday Sonam Raghuvanshi was in Ghazipur. Today afternoon we arrested another accused from Sagar district. A person has been detained at Nandgarh police station. The third team is going to arrest Sonam Raghuvanshi. These people committed the crime on May 23 and fled immediately. At that time we did not know that it was a murder. We were looking for them. We saw the missing person report, but no one was found. The body was found only on June 2, after which the SIT was formed and the investigation began. In these 7 days, the SIT collected enough evidence. Raja had two marks of attack with a sharp weapon on his head. Sonam is one of the main accused. According to the initial investigation, the other accused carried out the murder, but Sonam's role in plotting the murder cannot be denied. After all, Sonam was also underground for so many days. It is difficult to say right now what was the motive behind the murder, but if we connect all the wires, it is revealed that Raj Kushwaha and Sonam must have been involved in it. Raj Kushwaha was not here, but he was in touch with the other three accused
Earlier, the case of missing of a couple who had come to Meghalaya for honeymoon from Indore, Madhya Pradesh was in the news for a long time. When the couple went missing on May 23, it was believed that due to dense forests and low population in Sohra area of Meghalaya, the husband and wife were not being traced. After this, the matter got complicated. The body of the missing youth was found in a 150 feet deep ditch on June 2 (Monday).
The case of the missing couple from Indore got more complicated after Raja's body was found. In fact, amid heavy rains, Meghalaya Police found Raja's body through drones. His body was badly decomposed and his face was unrecognizable. The family identified the body through a tattoo. However, even after searching around Raja's body, Sonam could not be found. Not only this, Raja's body was found at a place called Voisadong. SDRF, Special Operation Team and a mountaineering club were also involved in this search operation. The place where the body was found in Voisadong is 25 kilometers away from the location of the scooty rented by Raja and Sonam. This distance increased suspicion in the case. Neither Raja's mobile nor purse, nor the gold chain and ring worn by Raja was found near his body. Only his smartwatch was found tied on the wrist.
Raja Raghuvanshi's postmortem report has revealed shocking facts, which confirmed several sharp wounds. It was told that Raja had two big wounds on his head - one from the front, the other from the back. The bones of the body were also broken due to throwing the dead body in the ditch. The police also found the weapon 'Dao' used in Raja's murder from the spot, which was seized.
Mawlakhiyat guide Albert Pad had said that he saw the couple along with three male tourists climbing more than 3,000 steps from Nongriat to Mawlakhiyat around 10 am on May 23. Albert had said that he recognized the couple from Indore, as they had offered their services to climb them to Nongriat a day earlier, but they had refused and hired another guide.
He had told that all four men were walking ahead, while the woman was behind. All four men were talking in Hindi, but I could not understand what they were saying, as I know only Khasi and English. He told that they spent the night at Shipra Homestay and returned the next day without a guide. Albert had claimed that when I reached Mawlakhiyat, their scooter was not there. The Indore couple's rented scooter was found at Sohrarim, several kilometres away from its parking lot at Mawlakhiyat, with the keys in it.
