A special court in Bengaluru has ordered an FIR against Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on September 27. The Finance Minister has been accused of extortion.
After the order of the Special Court, Bengaluru Police has registered an FIR under sections 384 and 120B. Karnataka BJP chief and BS Yediyurappa's son BY Vijayendra and party leader Nalin Kumar Kateel are also named in the complaint by Adarsh R Iyer of Janadhikar Sangharsh Parishad.
According to news agency PTI, the complainant has alleged that the accused indulged in extortion under the guise of electoral bonds and benefited to the tune of over Rs 8,000 crore.
He also alleged that Sitharaman, through ED officials, extorted thousands of crores of rupees for the benefit of others at the state and national level.
In this complaint, it was said that the entire extortion racket under the guise of electoral bonds is being run with the connivance of BJP officials at different levels. In the month of February, just before the Lok Sabha elections, the Supreme Court had canceled the 2018 Electoral Bond Scheme of the Narendra Modi government.
Not only this, the court had called it unconstitutional, arbitrary and a violation of Article 14. Let us tell you that the Narendra Modi government at the Center started the Electoral Bond Scheme in the year 2018 and its purpose was to replace cash donations given to political parties, so that transparency is maintained in political funding. Funds were given to political parties through electoral bonds but it was not made public.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has also reacted to this matter. He posted on Twitter and said, 'The court of people's representatives has issued an order to register an FIR against Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in connection with the electoral bond scam. When will Karnataka BJP leaders protest and march for her resignation. If there is a fair investigation of this matter, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also have to resign. Kumaraswamy, who is on bail, should also resign.
