Exchange Of Land Held Between India And Bangladesh After 50 Years

There has been an exchange of land between India and Bangladesh after 50 years. The people of Bangladesh have called it an Eid gift. India has handed over 56.86 acres of land in Ranishankoi upazila of border Thakurgaon to Bangladesh. In response, India has also acquired 14.68 acres of land from Bangladesh.

The exchange of lands took place in a flag meeting between BSF (Border Security Force) from the Indian side and BGB (Border Guard Bangladesh) from the Bangladesh side. There was an agreement for exchange of land between India and Bangladesh in 1974, but no action was taken regarding Ranishankoi.

The land received by Bangladesh from India will now be called Khas Khatian (government land). Of this land, 48.12 acres are cultivable, 6.87 acres are under tea plantation and 1.87 acres are under cultivation. BGB Captain Lt. Col. Tanjeer Ahmed says that the exchange of land between the two countries has taken place in an amicable manner. We got the gift of Eid. For this we thank BSF. Till now we used to hear from elders about our land in this part of India, now we will be able to go there and do farming.

Survey is proposed for land distribution in 8 other districts of Bangladesh. This will allow distribution of land between the two countries. Along with BSF, BGB, other agencies will also be involved in the survey. The survey will be completed by the end of the year.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has broken her silence regarding the alleged 'India Out' campaign of opposition parties in Bangladesh. Hasina took a jibe at the opposition during a program at the Awami League party office in Tejgaon, Bangladesh on Tuesday.

He said- How many Indian sarees do their (opposition leaders) wives have? When those people burn their wives' sarees outside their party office, only then will it be proved that they are boycotting the products made in India.
