Exit Poll: Congress To Win in Haryana. PDP To Be The kingmaker In J&K

After the voting for Haryana assembly elections ended, exit poll estimates also came out. According to the estimates, Congress can form the government with full majority in Haryana. On the other hand, BJP can be ousted from power after 10 years. At the same time, the Congress and National Conference alliance has been given an edge in the exit poll of Jammu and Kashmir elections. Some exit polls have shown this alliance close to the majority, but PDP can be seen in the role of kingmaker.

In Haryana, voting was held in a single phase on all 90 seats of the state on Saturday. The main contest in the elections is between BJP, Congress, JJP, INLD. On the other hand, the third and last phase of voting ended in Jammu and Kashmir on October 1. Earlier, voting was held on 18 and 25 September. Elections have been held in the Union Territory after about 10 years and the exit poll estimates do not seem to give much relief to the BJP.

BJP has been in power in Haryana since 2014. Manohar Lal Khattar was the Chief Minister of the state for more than 9 years. In the 2019 elections, BJP formed a government in alliance with JJP in which Dushyant Chautala was the Deputy CM. However, this time just before the Lok Sabha elections, the paths of BJP and JJP parted. Just before the elections, Khattar also resigned from the post of CM. After this, BJP gave the command of the state to Nayab Singh Saini. Saini is counted among the prominent OBC faces of BJP.

Elections are being held for the first time after the abolition of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. In this election, Congress has an alliance with Farooq Abdullah-led National Conference. At the same time, Mehbooba Mufti's PDP is contesting the elections alone. BJP has also not formed an alliance with anyone and is contesting the elections alone. After the new delimitation in the state, the number of assembly seats has increased from 83 to 90. In this, there are 43 seats in Jammu region and 47 seats in Kashmir region.

If the election results remain close to the exit poll estimates, then the role of PDP will become important in forming the government in the Union Territory. Earlier, in the 2014 elections, no party got an absolute majority. Then BJP and PDP formed the government together and Mufti Mohammad Sayeed became the Chief Minister. After the death of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in 2016, his daughter Mehbooba Mufti became the Chief Minister, but this government could not complete its term and fell in June 2018. After this, Governor's rule was imposed in the state
