First LPG Vessel Arrives in India Amid West Asia Conflict

Amid the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, an LPG carrier named Shivalik has reached India with a major gas shipment from Qatar. The vessel docked at Mundra Port in Gujarat at around 5 pm on Monday.

The Shivalik is transporting nearly 46,000 metric tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), which is estimated to be equivalent to around 3.24 million domestic cooking gas cylinders.

The ship crossed the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz on March 14 before heading toward India. It is reportedly the first LPG vessel to arrive in the country since tensions intensified in the Middle East.

According to the Shipping Ministry, another vessel, Nanda Devi, is also carrying approximately 46,000 tonnes of LPG and is expected to reach India on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the tanker Jag Ladki, transporting nearly 81,000 tonnes of Murban crude oil, is also en route to India and is likely to arrive at Mundra Port tomorrow.
