First National Lok Adalat of 2026 in Tripura on March 14

The first National Lok Adalat of 2026 will be conducted across Tripura on Saturday, March 14, with proceedings scheduled to take place simultaneously at the High Court, district courts, and sub-divisional courts throughout the state.

A total of 45 benches have been constituted to adjudicate and facilitate the amicable settlement of 26,574 cases. These include 21,390 pending matters and 5,184 pre-litigation disputes. The cases slated for consideration encompass a broad spectrum of issues, including 422 motor accident compensation claims, 204 matrimonial disputes, 5,084 bank loan recovery cases, and 100 cases related to BSNL bill payments. In addition, 20,718 compoundable criminal cases under various statutes such as the Motor Vehicles Act (MV Act), Tripura Police Act (TP Act), Tripura Gambling Act (TG Act), and the Excise Act will be taken up. The Lok Adalat will also address 28 cheque dishonour cases under the Negotiable Instruments Act and 18 employment-related disputes. At the High Court of Tripura, a dedicated bench will hear 40 cases.

Notices have already been served to all concerned parties to ensure their participation in the settlement process. To facilitate litigants and provide necessary assistance, legal volunteers along with “Nyaya Mitras” will operate dedicated help desks at the venues.

Justice Dr. Amarnath Goud, Executive Chairman of the Tripura State Legal Services Authority, has issued directives to ensure comprehensive arrangements for the smooth and successful conduct of the Lok Adalat. Meanwhile, Member-Secretary Jhuma Dutta Choudhury has appealed to the public to make full use of this platform to resolve disputes in an expeditious, amicable, and cost-free manner, thereby reducing the burden of prolonged litigation.
