Forest Dept Seizes Illegal Sawmill in Banshibari Jungle

In a decisive move to protect the state’s forest resources, the Sub-Divisional Forest Officer, Ishan Lal Das, ordered a special operation in the dense jungles of Banshibari. Acting on a tip-off, the Jampui Zilla Forest Protection Unit, led by In-Charge Vijay Ghosh and officer Sukanta Das, conducted a thorough search on Wednesday evening.

During the operation, authorities uncovered an illegal sawmill deep inside the forest. Upon noticing the forest department’s presence, the timber poachers fled the scene. Subsequent searches across the area led to the recovery of a substantial quantity of illegally harvested timber.

Forest department sources revealed that poachers had been secretly operating in the region for an extended period. The latest operation delivered a significant blow to illegal logging activities in the area. Officials have confirmed that similar operations will be intensified in the coming days to safeguard the state’s forest wealth.
