Former MLA's Wife Killed In Bomb Blast in Manipur

Manipur violence is not stopping. The wife of a former MLA died in a bomb blast in Kangpokpi district of the state. 

Meanwhile, three rural volunteers including a militant died in a shootout with militants in Tengnoupal district.In this regard, officials said on Sunday that a bomb blast occurred on Saturday evening in a house located near the house of former Saikul MLA Yamthong Haokip in Kangpokpi district. 

Haokip's second wife Sapan Charubala was injured in this blast. She was taken to the hospital, but she died during treatment. 

Although Haokip was also present at home at the time of the blast, he did not suffer any injury. At present, the police is investigating the bomb blast.

At the same time, there was a shootout between the militants and the village volunteers in Tengnoupal, Manipur. In this incident, four village volunteers of the same community were killed. 

According to the police, on Friday, there was an encounter between the village volunteers and the United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) in Molnom area. After the killing of the volunteers, the angry volunteers burnt down the house of UKLF's self-proclaimed chief SS Haokip.

In this regard, the officials say that the reason behind the firing could be to control extortion in the area. 

He said that the security forces have launched a search operation in the area but no arrest has been made in this case so far. However, the situation is under control.
