French Parliamentary Election: Voting Opens

Voting is being held on Sunday for the first phase of parliamentary elections in France, which is being seen as a test for President Emmanuel Macron, who is hoping for a majority.

Macron's coalition is facing a strong challenge from the leftist coalition. It is expected that the first right-wing government may be formed in the country after the Second World War, which could be a major change in the European Union.

Earlier this month, elections for the European Parliament were held on June 6. During this time, France witnessed the most shocking political situation. Here, the National Rally of France's far-right leader Marine La Pen gave a huge blow to Macron's party.

After this, the President surprised everyone by suddenly announcing national elections even before the final results were out.

He had said, 'I have decided that you should choose your parliamentary future through your vote. Therefore, I am dissolving the National Assembly. Far-right parties are advancing everywhere. These are circumstances which I cannot accept.'

Marine Le Pen's National Rally was out of the political corridors for a long time, but now she is closer to power than ever before. In such a situation, national elections are being held in France on June 30 and July 7.

By mid-July it will be clear what will be Macron's position in the political equations and whether he will be forced to rule along with an extreme right-wing prime minister. However, these elections will not make any difference to Macron's position, who took over the second term of the presidency only two years ago, because there is still time for the presidential elections and he will complete the remaining three years of his term.

Voting for 577 seats will take place in France from 11:30 am to 9:30 pm Indian time. Exit polls may come out late at night. Voting for the second phase will take place a week later.

However, it may be difficult to predict the exact distribution of seats in the 577-seat National Assembly
