Tripura Shantiniketan Medical College and Hospital (TSMCH) is set to significantly strengthen the state’s healthcare infrastructure with the launch of a 1,150-bed hospital facility within the next six months. The announcement was made by the Chairman of the institution, Mr. Malay Pit, during a press conference held on Saturday at the Agartala Press Club.
Addressing the media, Mr. Pit confirmed that full-fledged hospital services will commence from February 1, marking a major milestone in the institution’s expansion. He stated that TSMCH is preparing to introduce advanced medical facilities, including MRI and CT scan services, with long-term plans to offer high-end procedures such as liver transplantation.
In addition to healthcare expansion, Mr. Pit announced that the Shantiniketan Fair will be organized on January 26 at the medical college campus. Furthermore, a landmark event titled TSMCH MED EXPO 2.01 will be held from January 23 to January 26, 2026, integrating healthcare, education, and industry. The event will also feature the annual cultural programme of the medical college students.
Established in 2024, Tripura Shantiniketan Medical College and Hospital has achieved notable recognition in a short span of time. The institution earned international acknowledgment following a record number of admissions of domestic and international students in its inaugural MBBS batch.
Beyond academic excellence and medical services, TSMCH has demonstrated a strong commitment to social responsibility. The hospital provides OPD services at a nominal fee of ₹10, supports women entrepreneurship initiatives, and has undertaken an ambitious environmental drive aiming to plant one crore trees within a year.
Recently, the institution received approval to commence in-patient department (IPD) services, further enhancing its role in the state’s healthcare delivery system. With its expanding medical capabilities and socio-economic initiatives, Tripura Shantiniketan Medical College and Hospital is emerging as a key contributor to both public health and overall development in Tripura.
