General Election in UK on July 4: British PM Rishi Sunak

United Kingdom will hold its general election on July 4. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced the date of the parliamentary election on Wednesday.

Putting an end to months of speculation about the date of the election, 44-year-old PM Sunak announced outside his residence 10 Downing Street that he was holding the election earlier than some people expected.

While holding elections early even after his party is far behind in many opinion polls is a risky strategy.

For the last 14 years, Britain has been ruled by the Conservative Party led by PM Sunak.

Media reports are claiming that this time the opposition Labour Party is very likely to come to power.

According to the report, in the opinion polls that have come out now, Sunak is not only far behind the Labour Party, but is also isolated from some people in his party and he is dependent on a small team of advisors to run his election campaign.
